Islam is guided with a set of morals and manners even for the actions of intimacy between a husband and a wife. Marital relations are the most pious relations between a man and a woman on this Earth, intimacy with your menstruating wife has some regulations that you must be aware of.
It is not permissible to perform intercourse with a menstruating woman.
Allah says,
“They ask you concerning intercourse during menstruation. Say, It is harmful to both the partners so keep away from women during menses and do not approach them until they are clean. When they h have purified themselves, approach them from where Allah permitted you. Indeed, Allah loves those who constantly repent and loves those who purify themselves.” [Al-Baqarah 2:222]
However, the Muslim man should not be confused as he is permissible to sleep next to his menstruating wife, touch her, caress her, and so on. Treat them like the normal days except the action of intercourse.
The Prophet (Peace be Upon Him) said,
“Live with them in the house, and do anything you wish except for intercourse.”
It is very important to spread awareness as it is crucial for the health of both spouses. Some people are unaware and hence go on to fulfil their pleasures. However, as good and noble Muslims you should strive to observe the guidelines that have been stated in Qur’an and followed by the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him).
“When the Prophet (P.B.U.H.) wanted to have intimacy with one oh his wives while she was menstruating, he would have wrap a piece of cloth around her lower body and would then fondle her.” [al-Bukhari]
“When the Prophet (P.B.U.H.) wanted something intimate from a menstruating wife, he would first cover her private area with a piece of cloth.” [al-Albani]
After a woman’s menses ends, it is recommended for her to perform ghusl before her husband try to be intimate with her because this is the highest form of purification. She should cleanse her body as soon as the cycle ends.
