Being ordained by Allah, the most Wise and All-Knowing, Nikah is sure to have indefinite number of virtues and advantages. The Advantages are not only limited to the strengthening of one’s religion but it has social advantages also which helps in the upliftment of the society if completed in the right manner. Today we will bring to light how Nikah plays an important role in giving the right shape to one’s faith in Islam.
Righteous spouses assist one another in preserving their Deen. You are a blessed soul if you find the right person to spend your whole life with and who can offer help, support, and advice in elevating one’s connection with Allah. The spouses who help one another to obey Allah and abstain from sinning.
The Prophet (Peace be upon Him) said,
“When Allah grants one a righteous wife, He has helped him by that to preserve half of his religion. Let Him then fear and revere Allah in regard to the other half.”
[as-Sahihah n. 625]
Let us pay heed to another Hadith in which the Prophet (Peace be upon Him) said,
“When a servant of Allah marries, He has by that completed half of his religion. Let him then fear and revere Allah in regard to the other half.”
[as-Sahihah no. 625 & Sahih ul-Jami no. 430]
These Hadith throws light on the fact that it is a foolish act to live along when Allah prescribed a better way and a happier way to live. If we call ourselves the true believers of Islam, we need to ensure that the light of Deen is enlightened in or hearts, minds, and souls. This light will take us closer to fulfilling the Sunnah of the Prophet (Peace be upon Him). The same path will only lead us to pleasing Allah.
