Prohibited Courting in Islam-Part 2

Our aim is to enlighten our audience with complete knowledge. Since we have been talking about Courting and prohibitions related to it, today we will continue about some other prohibitions that a majority of Muslims are unaware of.

Considering the fact that it is our duty to know our Islam better, let us read the other prohibitions and the Hadith related to it.

Can you court a woman who is being courted?

Now this is a very simple thing but every action has its minute details which need to be taken care of. When a Muslim man is proposing to a woman, it is not permissible for other Muslims to propose to her. They should wait until her family or her representatives have given a clear answer for the proposal. By clear answer we mean that the woman’s family should either accept it or reject it. If the proposal is rejected, then only it is permissible for others to approach the woman for Nikah.

Below, we have highlighted different Hadith that justify the above mentioned criteria.

Allah’s Messenger, the prophet (Peace be upon him) said,

“Avoid suspicion, for suspicion is the worst of false tales. Do not spy, nor look for the faults of each other, no oppose each other, nor envy one another, nor hate one another, nor desert each other- and, O servants of Allah, be true brothers. Let not a man court a woman whom his brother is courting; He should wait until he marries or leaves her.”

[al-Bukhari and Muslims]

Another Hadith speak of the same thing in such clear words that we need to pay attention to.

Allah’s Messenger, the prophet (Peace be upon him) said,

“A believer is a brother to another believer. It is not permissible for a believer to negotiate a deal that his brother is negotiating, nor propose to a woman to whom hiss brother is proposing- until he leaves.”

[Recorded by Muslim]

“Let none of you negotiate a deal that is being negotiated by another one, nor propose to a woman to whom another one is proposing.”

[al-Bukhari]

So, all these Hadith are mentioned by our Rasool to show us what is the right thing to do. It is better that we stick to the Islamic path while making such a big decision of life.
