Nikah being one of the most important decisions in life must be taken after careful thinking and a thorough research. One should remember that the important things are not only beauty and wealth but a loving and a caring attitude is must for making a happier home.
One should seek to marry a woman who is expected to have a loving and caring attitude towards her husband. This is normally possible to sense from her environment and family’s reputation. So, it is very necessary to look after family’s background and try to find the one who is soft and shows respect towards her elders.
Regarding the importance of having a loving attitude, we would like you to pay heed to one of the Hadith being discussed in the following section.
Abu Uthaynah as-Sadafi R.A. reported that Allah’s Messenger, the Prophet (Peace be upon him) said,
“The best of your woman are those who are bearers of many children, loving to their husbands, comforting, and tolerant- provided that they have taqwa of Allah.
And the worst of your women are those who display their charms to other than their husbands, and who talk with arrogance. Such are the hypocrites, and those of them who will enter Jannah are as rare as are the red-beaked and red-legged crows.”
[Sahih ul-Jami no. 3330]
After reading this Hadith it is clear that the best wives are those who are sweetest and least arrogant with their husbands and his family. You can dream of making a home a happy place only if your wife is ready to invest in the seeds of love and care.
Ibn’ Abbas R.A. reported that Allah’s Messenger, the Prophet (Peace be upon him) said,
“Your women who will be of the dwellers of Jannah are those who are loving to their husbands, bearers of many children, and caring towards their husbands.”
[as-Sahihah no. 287]
Another similar Hadith throws light on the importance of wives being caring and loving towards their husbands. So, one should try to develop such attributes for the love of Allah in this world and hereafter.
