When it comes to the rights that Allah has bestowed upon the husband over his wife, a noble Islamic woman must be aware that she has to fulfill in response to the same. In of our previous blog, we have already discussed the rights of a Muslim wife upon her husband. We already know that a husband holds the primary most importance in her wife’s life. It is the only way that a Muslim wife can enter Jannah. In this article, we will cite different Hadith as mentioned in Qur’an and narrated by the Prophet (P.B.U.H.) to bring more clarity to the Muslim couples across different nations.
“When a woman prays her five daily prayers, fasts in Ramadan month, guards her private parts from illegal sexual activity, and obeys er husband, she will enter the Paradise of the Lord.” (Sahihul-jami: 661)
Even after knowing this, which of you sister would do the mistake of disobeying your husband and reducing your chances to enter Paradise? Verily, any sensible Muslimah will know how precious her husband is for her own good and for entering Jannah.
In numerous Hadith, the Prophet (P.B.U.H.) has emphasized on the great rights that a husband has over his wife.
“If a woman knew what right her husband has over her, she would not sit down while his lunch and dinner are served to him until he finishes his meal.” (Sahihul-jami: 5259)
The next Hadith highlights that whether a woman’s prayer is sound or not hinges upon how she deals with her husband. The Prophet (P.B.U.H.) said:
“As for two people, their prayers do not go beyond their heads: a slave who runs way from his owners, until he returns to them, and a woman who disobeys her husband, until she returns to obedience.” (Sahihul-jami: 136)
Another important right includes the right to be respected and honored by his wife, no matter how rich or poor he is. If a woman fails to respect her husband, her home will lack harmony and peace. In this regard, the Prophet (P.B.U.H.) said:
“Were I to order anyone to perform prostration out of respect and honor, and not as an act of worship to another person, i would have ordered a woman to perform prostration to her husband, because of the great right that he has upon her.” (Sahihul -jami: 5294)
One more significant Hadith brought to the mankind by the Prophet (P.B.U.H.) illustrates the importance of the husband for his wife.
“When the slave of Allah marries, he has completed half of his religion; then let him fear Allah regarding the remaining half.” (Sahihul-jami: 430)
All these Hadith quoted with authentic sources are enough to inform every Muslim woman about what her role is expected to be. We shall continue to discuss some more rights as highlighted by Allah. It is very important for every Muslim couple to understand what Islam says about their rights.
