- The word Khitbah underlies the intentions of a man to seek a woman for proposing her to marry him. Although this does not mean that only man can propose a woman for marriage. This right is also given to Muslim women where they can convey their choice and send the proposal for marriage for the man she is seeking.

As of now, you should take care that the proposal should not sound an obligation on another. While proposing, the behaviors as per the Shariah should be observed like maintain an adequate amount of distance and not looking into the eyes. Such modesty reflects the character of a better Muslim.
