Protection against Zina for Muslims

Despite the ugliness of Zina, a person is often attracted to it because of numerous temptations. These include the evil int he nafs of the soul of a man and the also the enticement of Satan. Thus, it is incumbent that the person should take all the necessary precautions for ensuring protection against the evil.

The following article highlights the some of the Islamic means for protecting one soul against Zina.

One should always invoke Allah by heart and tongue. This solely is the true source and the greatest protection against Satan.

“Remember Allah frequently so that you may succeed.” [Al-Jumuah 62:10]

“Whoever is blinded from the remembrance of the Merciful, we appoint for him a devil who becomes his close companion.” [Al-Zukhruf 43:36]

Further, part of remembering Allah is being aware of His presence and closeness at all the time.

“We surely have created the human being and know what his soul whispers to him and We are closer to him than his jugular vein.” [Qaf 50:16]

One also needs to remember that Allah is the most powerful and He is capable of punishing  the sinful and the punishment is very painful and severe.

“Say, Indeed I fear, if I should disobey my Lord, the punishment of a great Day.” [Al-Anam 6:15]

‘But as for him who fears the position of His Lord and prevents the soul from unlawful inclinations, then indeed, Jannah will be his abode.”

[An-Naziat 70:40-41]

How can one forget that praying with the tongue and the heart is the greatest protection against Zina.

“Recite what has been revealed to you of the Book, and establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prevents from depravity and wrongdoing; and the remembrance of Allah is greater. Allah knows that which you do.”

[Al-Ankabut 29:45]

Fasting is an important means for physically restraining oneself from the sexual desires. The Prophet (Peace be upon Him) prescribed the same for the young men or whom it was difficult to afford marriage.

“Young men, let him who can afford marriage marry, for it helps lower the gaze and guard the chastity; and let him who cannot afford it fast, for fasting is a repression for desire for him.”

[Recorded by Al-Bukari, Muslim, and others.]

So, remembrance, honor and fear of Allah will help the Muslim to restrain from Haram thoughts related to Zina and lead a better life.
