Ramadan is the Islamic holy month of fasting and the ninth month of the Muslim calendar. Hunger is one of the most significant burdens one can bear. We only feel the value of something when we experience it, and The month of Ramadan is all about experiencing the burden of hunger.
Some are privileged enough to fill their plates by the end of the day, while others do not experience this.
What is #PassThePlate?
We fast during the day during this holy month, but not everyone has the opportunity to break their fast at night. Every day, almost 20 crore Indians go to bed hungry.
Pass the Plate (Iftar) to someone less fortunate than others, i.e., share your iftar with others.
The primary reason for this is to help others, as Zakat is an essential element of Islam.
Sharing iftar allows someone else to benefit from Ramadan’s blessings, but it also doubles your own fast’s reward.
Ramadan is not only about fasting, but it also means helping and supporting others. It teaches us self-discipline, self-control, sacrifice, and empathy for others who are less fortunate throughout Ramadan.
Why is Zakat necessary?
Muslims believe that Allah provides wealth to whom he wills without any account and Zakat is the one of the five pillars of Islam and spiritually purifies the wealth and soul and increases in love for brothers and sisters worldwide who are less fortunate.
Zakat is important because it benefits not only the individual, but also the recipient and society at large. The power of Zakat cannot be underestimated.
It’s an incredible institution intended to transform society. Imagine this: if just the top ten richest people in the world paid Zakat, that would amount to £7.7 billion!
That would lift countless people from poverty. The effects for the world would be huge if we all just gave our part.
Why did NikahForever start this initiative?
More than 390 million people go to bed hungry every year. Every year, these figures rise. This is why NikahForever has stepped up to establish the #PassThePlate movement to help the less fortunate. Every person is entitled to basic needs such as food, clean water, and healthcare. After fasting for the whole day, every family deserves a nourishing feast.
It is one of the first Indian companies to start this initiative. NikahForever is spreading hope in these difficult times.
